Mary A. (McLaughlin) Way, age 85, wife of the late Richard J. Way, of Phoenixville, PA died Sunday, March 31, 2024. Born on September 18, 1938 in Philadelphia, PA, Mary was the daughter of Edward and Margaret (Long) McLaughlin.
She was a 1956 graduate of Merion Mercy Academy (Mater Misericordiae Academy) in Merion, PA and worked many years as an administrator at Pediatric Associates in King of Prussia, PA, before retiring in 1999. Her "second act" was as a childcare worker at the Phoenixville YMCA, where she was beloved by so many, children and adults alike. She was an active member of St. Ann Roman Catholic Church in Phoenixville, PA. She was a loving daughter, sister, sister-in-law, wife, mother, mother-in-law, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She showed unconditional love, strength, and kindness that extended beyond her family to encompass a large network of friends. She was also a very valued contributing member of her Church and Community. She was a member of the Powderhorn Garden Club, Women of Wall Street Investment Club, an avid tennis player, bridge player, traveler, animal lover, and enthusiastic thrifter.
Mary Way is survived by five children: Mary Anne (Tom) Rutkowski, Lori A. (David) Gulati, Karen A. (Tony) Zortea, Patricia A. Way, and Richard J. Way; sister: Margie Smith; twelve grandchildren: Justin (Kerry), Anthony, Nicholas (Laura), Christopher, David, Owen, Adam, Brett, Julia, Thomas, Cassidy, and Ava; two great-grandchildren: Isabelle and Frederick; sisters- in-law: Elaine McLaughlin, Michelle McLaughlin, Janet Way, and Margie Way; brothers-in-law: Jim Maguire and Francis Way; and many, many nieces and nephews. Mary was pre-deceased by her parents and siblings: Louise, William, Frances, Edward, and James.
Relatives and friends will be received at visitation from 9:30 - 11 a.m. Saturday, April 6 the at St. Ann's Chapel, 604 South Main Street, Phoenixville, PA, followed by the funeral mass at 11 a.m. at the same location. Officiating will be Rev. John Newns. Burial will be at the St. Ann Cemetery, 378 W. Pothouse Road, Phoenixville, PA.
