Matti "Bud" J. Maenpaa, best friend and husband of Patti-Ann (Wagner) Maenpaa, of Collegeville, Pennsylvania, passed away on Saturday, April 10 after a long battle with cancer. Born on December 6, in Helsinki, Finland, he was the son of the late Ida (Rastas) Maenpaa and Aaro Mikko Wilhelm Maenpaa. Matti was the loving father of Suvi-Ann and Satu-Lene Maenpaa, both at home. Bud is also survived by his sister, Lea Tuominen, of Pori, Finland.
After attending Helsinki University, Matti began a successful career in technology software. In the early part of his career, Matti traveled and worked in countless countries across the globe. His profession allowed him to live in 7 different countries and travel within 6 continents. He eventually settled in Blue Bell, PA working for Unysis as a Project Manager. While working in Blue Bell, Matti studied History at the local community college where he met his wife Patti and started a family. Bud later retired from OSIsoft in Philadelphia where he had worked for 20 years as a Project Manager.
Along with Bud's passion to explore, he enjoyed skiing, learning about World History, watching Jeopardy, completing home projects, collecting socks and t-shirts and most of all, spending time with his family.
Relatives and friends will be received from 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm Thursday evening at the Campbell-Ennis-Klotzbach Funeral Home, Inc, Main Street at Fifth Avenue, Phoenixville and from 10:00 am - 11:00 am Friday morning at the Heidelberg United Church of Christ, 251 Perkiomen Avenue, Schwenksville. Bud's funeral service, officiated by Rev. Adrian Tierson, will follow at 11:00 am, with limited capacity due to COVID-19 pandemic regulations.
