Obituary

Michael Robert Ibach, age 75, husband of Holly (Detwiler) Ibach of Frederica, DE, formerly Royersford, PA, passed away on Thursday, March 2, 2023 in the BayHealth Hospital, Milford, DE. Born on March 29, 1947 in Phoenixville, PA, he was a son of the late Franklin L. and Marian E. (Hallman) Ibach.

Mr. Ibach was a 1965 graduate of Spring-Ford High School. From 1966 until his retirement in 2003, he worked as a service and system technician for Verizon. Even in retirement, he continued to work as a sales clerk for ACE Hardware, a maintenance provider for the town of Greenwood, and as a self-employed water operator monitoring the safety of the water supply for the state of Delaware.

Family was of the utmost importance to Mickey. He cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren and family. He was a very hands on father and coached his son's little league and Babe Ruth baseball teams for many years. Throughout his life, he had an athletic nature. He played football in high school, had an 11-0 record boxing in a minor golden gloves club in Reading, and played basketball in a Spring-Ford recreational league into his 40's. These days he continued to exercise daily and took several long walks with his dogs every day. An avid music lover, he had an extensive vinyl collection and attended dozens of concerts. He also loved playing solitaire, watching DIY and ESPN, and trying all kinds of food.

In addition to his wife Holly, Mr. Ibach is survived by 3 children, 5 grandchildren, and one great grandchild, from a previous marriage to Mary (Burkett) Ibach: Daughter Melanie, wife of Mark Fulmer, their 3 children, Jacob Fulmer, Cory Fulmer, husband of Joelle and daughter, Cora June, and Zachary Fulmer; his son Matthew Ibach, husband of Hilarie, their 2 children, Myles and Maddox; his daughter Elizabeth, wife of Cole Hayden. He is also survived by 2 children and 2 grandchildren, with his wife Holly: Sara Wade, and James Ibach and his children Fletcher and Eleanor. He was preceded in death by one son, Michael F. "Mickey" Ibach.
