Michael Ned Johnson, age 74, husband of the late Pamela Marie Johnson, of Collegeville, Pennsylvania, passed away on Sunday, June 4, 2023 at home. Born on November 16, 1948, in Saint Paul, Minnesota, he was the son of the late Doris and Ned Johnson.
Michael was adopted by his parents, Doris and Ned, around the age of five. In high school, he was a part of the Civil Air Patrol and won the Minnesota State Science Fair for electronics. During the Vietnam War, he was drafted into the US Army, but chose to enlist in the US Navy and served honorably. While living in California he met Pamela and they married soon after.
After moving back to Minnesota, Michael and Pamela raised their sons and Michael began his career with GE Nuclear. The family later relocated to Pennsylvania. Michael was employed for over 20 years as a nuclear engineer for GE, was the author of several industry patents, and traveled around the world nine months out of the year working on nuclear reactors. In his retirement, he took care of his wife and mother-in-law and enjoyed the fruits of all the years of his labor. He remained a supporter of veterans' causes and was an avid cook, particularly enjoying barbequing.
Michael is survived by two of his sons, Peter (Jeannette) Johnson and Michael (Jennifer) Johnson, and his grandchildren, Michael, Madison, and Kaitlyn. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a son: Christopher Johnson.
