Mildred Sharp Edleman, age 90, died on Sunday, July 2, 2017. She was the daughter of the late Gertrude R. Fritz and Harold Sharp. A 1944 graduate of Royersford High School, Mildred worked at the Valley Forge Army Hospital until she had her first child and retired to become a homemaker. She was passionate about volunteering, serving as a Girl Scout leader, working as a Gray Lady at Phoenixville Hospital for over 40 years and as a Red Cross volunteer for over 50 years, whereupon she was inducted into the Clara Barton Society. She was a member of the Selective Service Board of Montgomery County and worked on Project Outreach and the Royersford Area Community Chest.
Mrs. Edleman was a Charter member of the Spring-Ford Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star and was the chapter secretary for many years. She was a member of the Royersford United Methodist Church, served as Sunday School superintendent and for 60 years sang in the choir. She held several positions in the United Methodist Women, including a stint as a district officer. She traveled widely with her husband, especially on cruises, and enjoyed attending her children and grandchildren's athletic events, concerts, plays, and recitals, and just spending time with them. With her husband John, a longtime member of the Spring-Ford District School Board, she was an enthusiastic supporter of events at the local schools. She was a cancer survivor.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Edleman was predeceased by her husband, John R. Edleman. She is survived by her four children: Keith (Joyce) of Limerick, Elizabeth Diemer (Bert) of Wilmington, Del., Jeff (Ginny) of The Villages, Fla., and Jenifer McGonigle (Michael) of Mickleton, N. J. She is also survived by her eleven precious grandchildren: Kirk, Travis (Meghan), Amanda Moyer (Don), Russell Diemer (Lis), Melissa Rodriguez (Paul), Heather, John (Ashley), Erin Iacavone (Matthew), Callie Howells (Anthony), Katelyn McGonigle, Shana McGonigle and 18 great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Greenfield of Perkiomen Valley, Schwenksville, for the care and attention they gave Milly over the past eight years.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Ceremony at Royersford United Methodist Church, 380 Church Street, Royersford, PA on Friday, July 7, 2017 at 11:00 am. Burial will be held privately in the Fernwood Cemetery, Royersford, PA. Friends will be received from 9:30 am - 10:45 am Friday morning at the Church.
