Mildred King Exley, 92, wife of the late Gordon Rudolphus Exley, formerly of King of Prussia, passed away on Sunday, July 17, 2016 in Keystone Villa, Douglassville. Born on March 20, 1924 in Pottstown she was a daughter of the late Michael and Mary Rose (Pipko) King.
Mildred was a graduate of Pottstown High School, then began her career for Kessler's Department Store, in Pottstown, where she was a favorite employee of the Kessler Family. She became a stay at home mother, then returned to work as the secretary for Mr. Lenhart at Lenhart Press in Norristown. She retired as a secretary from the John Hancock Group Insurance office in Bryn Mawr in the mid 90's.
Mildred formerly attended Mother of Divine Providence in King of Prussia and was involved with the King of Prussia Senior's Club. She enjoyed shopping but her great love was for her family. She enjoyed big family gatherings at holidays and in her later years focused on time spent with her grandchildren.
Mrs. Exley is survived by her son: Mark King Exley, husband of Jill, of Spring City; grandchildren: Darren Mark, husband of Alicia Exley, of Spring City, Meredith Anne Exley, of Wyomissing, Caryn Elizabeth Exley, of Wyomissing and Gayle Marie Exley, of Coatesville; great-granddaughter: Abigail Charlotte Exley; and niece: Bonnie Ann, wife of Matthew Rigg, of Miami Beach, FL. She was preceded in death by seven siblings.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral mass at St. Joseph's R.C. Church, 3640 Schuylkill Road, Spring City, on Thursday, July 21, 2016 at 10:30 am. Officiating will be Rev. Charles R. O'Hara. Interment will follow in the Valley Forge Memorial Gardens. Friends will be received from 9:00 am - 10:15 am Thursday at the Church.
