Obituary

Miriam C. "Peg" (Daywalt) Smith, age 92, wife of R. Karlton Smith, of Upper Providence, Pennsylvania, passed away on Sunday, August 30, 2020 in Seasons Hospice. Born on April 1, 1928 in Harmanville, Pennsylvania, she was a daughter of the late Myra (Hicks) and William Daywalt.

Mrs. Smith had been employed after high school as a secretary at the former A.P. DeSanno, in Phoenixville and then for 25 years at the former Schell's Flowers on Egypt Road in Oaks. She volunteered at Phoenixville Hospital and had been an active member of Green Tree Church of the Brethren, where she volunteered in many capacities, served on several committees and sang in the choir. In her spare time, she enjoyed working with flowers, cross stitch and quilting.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Smith is survived by her three sons: Robert E., husband of Sally Smith, of Dunedin, FL, Gary W., husband of Susan Smith, of Marlton, NJ and David A. Smith, husband of Terese Caucci, of Boyertown, PA; five grandchildren: Kelli, Kristen, Kathryn, Ryan and Declan; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and one sister: Betty Jane Michener, of Elverson. In addition to her parents, Miriam was preceded in death by eight brothers and one sister.

Funeral services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made in Miriam's name to Green Tree Church of the Brethren, 1078 Egypt Road, Oaks, PA 19456.
