Obituary

Mr. Myrl Clare Gilchrist Jr., a resident of the Southeastern Pennsylvania Veterans Center, died February 16, 2016, in Paoli Hospital. He is survived by his wife, Marjorie A. (Vanderslice) Gilchrist, of 67 years of marriage. Born on July 3, 1926 in Rochester, PA, he was a son of Myrl and Marie (Young) Gilchrist.

He was a graduate of Beaver High School, Beaver, PA, attended Grove City College, and earned his engineering degree from the University of Michigan. Mr. Gilchrist was in the US Army during WWII in Europe, serving in the Battle of the Bulge and Battle of the Rhineland.

His retirement was from Westinghouse as a chemical/nuclear engineer. He had also achieved his Professional Engineer Degree.

Mr. Gilchrist was a devoted Christian and knew Jesus Christ as his Savior. He attended Calvary Bible Church in Phoenixville, PA.

He enjoyed traveling, fishing, swimming, was a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and loved any kind of pie.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Gilchrist is survived by his children: Karin L., wife of Larry Zimmel, of Canonsburg, PA, Neil K., husband of Kathy Gilchrist, of Phoenixville, PA, Eric A., husband of Deborah Gilchrist, of Charlottesville, VA, Timothy D. Gilchrist, of Wilmington, NC, Susan E., wife of Charles Boal, of Greensburg, PA and Paul T., husband of Janice Gilchrist, of Clemmons, NC; sister: Elaine Rowland, of Buffalo, NY; six grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service at Calvary Bible Church, 110 Valley Park Road, Phoenixville, PA on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at 2:00 pm. Officiating will be Pastor Michael Gilchrist. Friends will be received from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm Saturday at Calvary Bible Church.
