Oliver Dale Sims, age 55, husband of Barbara J. (Taney) Sims, of Phoenixville, passed away on Thursday, December 18, 2014 in the Phoenixville Hospital. Born in Phoenixville, he was a son of the late Oliver H. and Grace B. (Gellespie) Sims.

Dale was a well respected and active firefighter, holding various officer and administrative positions with the Black Rock Volunteer Fire Company and the Phoenixville Fire Department. He was a life member of the Valley Forge Fire Company and West End Fire Company. Known for his sense of humor, he enjoyed camping and vacationing in North Wildwood, NJ, regularly attending the Fireman's Convention. Dale loved life, was involved in sports as his children grew up, and enjoyed the time he spent with his grandson.

In addition to his wife, Dale is survived by three children, Angela M. Sims, Bryan M., husband of Nichole Sims, and Robert D. Sims, all of Phoenixville; one grandson, Louis Oliver Sims-Rocha; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two siblings, Sandra Amole and John Sims.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service at the Valley Forge Baptist Temple, 616 S. Trappe Road, Collegeville, PA 19426 on Monday, December 22, 2014 at 11:00 AM. Officiating will be the Rev. Ron Coulton. Burial will follow in the Morris Cemetery. Friends will be received at the church Monday morning from 9:00-10:45 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the "Team Oliver Dale Sims" account at any Wells Fargo Bank.
