Patricia (Patty) Lord, 99, a resident of Shannondell, Audubon, formerly of Strafford PA, passed away peacefully after a short illness on Sunday, January 11th at Einstein Montgomery Jefferson Hospital in Norristown.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 45 years, John (Jack) Lord (67), sons John A. Lord Jr. (36) and Christopher Lord (5 months); son-in-law Bill Miller, brothers John and Albert Wenzel and sister Peggy Wenzel Schofield.

Patty was born in Chestnut Hill, PA to Maudie and A.R. Wenzel on March 18, 1926. She grew up in Chestnut Hill, attended Cecilian Academy and was a 1944 graduate of Germantown High School where she met Jack, fell in love, married and soon began their life together. She graduated from junior college with a degree in merchandising.

Her life spanned a century and while she continually embraced changing times, her values were always steadfast: love of family and community gave her purpose and inspiration. As a busy mother of five, she still found time to volunteer, as an Art Teacher at The Timothy School in Wayne, at Daemion House in Berwyn, and devoted her life to caring for others and to many charitable causes. She enjoyed spending summers at the beach in Townsends Inlet, NJ with her family, was an avid reader of books, and enjoyed reading the newspaper daily front to back and solving the cryptogram for most of her life.

Her motto was "Keep Moving" which she lived by and emulated to its fullest. She was active in politics for most of her adult life and as a long-time Chester County Democratic Party committee person, hosted fund raisers and backyard rallies for candidates at her home, highlighted by the attendance of folk singers Peter, Paul and Mary who graciously entertained her guests one summer night. She was honored by the Chester County Democratic Committee for her tireless efforts in turning Tredyffrin Township blue. She always said that one of her proudest moments was attending the 1992 NYC Democratic Convention as a delegate and writing a column that week for the Daily Local Newspaper.

She continued to develop new and lasting friendships and stayed vibrant and active well into her nineties. As a member of both Overbrook & St. Davids Golf Clubs, she was a formidable player on the Bridge team and enjoyed golf, tennis and paddle ball. In her seventies she fulfilled a lifelong dream and studied Art at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and became a docent and tour guide well into her 80's.

She is survived by her children Tricia Miller of Dallas, Sally Blann (Rance) of Tulsa, Josh Lord (Bonnie) of Chester Springs and Meg Reed (Don) of Phoenixville; and is the proud grandmother of nine grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
