Peggy Jo Irwin, 81, of Oaks peacefully passed away in her home Wednesday, May 9, 2012. As was always her wish, Peg was surrounded by her beloved felines, as well as close friends and family as she succumbed to her recent diagnosis of lymphoma.

Peggy was born in her childhood home in Jeffersonville, Pennsylvania on September 17, 1930. She graduated from Norristown High School in 1948 and from Temple University's Tyler School of Fine Arts in 1952. In September of 1952, Peggy married Wm. Howard Irwin, who preceded her in death in 1994.

Peggy held several jobs throughout her long-standing career, including occupational therapy positions during her early working years, and a variety of clerical positions, including businesses such as Rider Truck Rentals and Williams Form, in her later years. However, Peg will be most-remembered for her true passion, which was being self-employed as owner and primary instructor of The Oakwin School of Dance for 32 years. In addition to her excellent dance ability, Peg was known for her keen sense of humor, which continued to entertain those around her until her very last day.

Peg is survived by her daughter, Tina (Irwin) Sizing and son-in-law Mike Sizing of Little Torch Key, Florida. She is also survived by her grandsons and their families: Benjamin Sauter & Leigh Bernardo and their children, Annalisa & Ethan Sauter of Montoursville; and Nathan & Joy Sauter and their children, Justin & Dominic Sauter of Philipsburg. Additionally, Peg is survived by extremely close friends, who have been like daughters for decades, including Kathy Aquilante Criswell, Lori Berry Raggazino and Valerie Ziegenfus Beers. The family is very grateful for the love and care these "daughters" continued to give Peg, and would also like to express their sincere gratitude to Fran Hawkins, Peg's long-time friend, and care-givers Linda Dennis and Helene Kerney, R. N. for the diligent care and love provided during Peg's final months.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 14 at 6:30 p.m. In accordance to Peg's wishes, the service will be held at Green Tree Church of the Brethren, where she recently felt very welcomed by the congregation as a new member. In lieu of cut flowers, living plants or donations to an animal protection agency of choice would be greatly appreciated.
