R. Stanley Wiand, age 90, husband of the late M. Theresa (Deevy) Wiand, of Spring City, Pennsylvania, died Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at his home.
Born on February 21, 1926 in Spring City, Pennsylvania, he was a son of the late Raymond and Eudora (Millard) Wiand. He was a graduate of Spring City High School. He was a veteran of the US army serving in the Korean War.
Stanley worked on the railroad as a brakeman and conductor for 38 years. Initially for the Reading Railroad and later Conrail before retiring in 1991.
Stanley enjoyed gardening, hunting and was a skillful mechanic who operated his own small engine repair business, 'Stan's Mower Service', for many years. He proudly spent time following his grandchildren participating in their high school and college sporting careers.
He was a member of St. Joseph's R.C. Church.
Stanley is survived by three sons: Terence S., husband of Nancy. Royersford, PA; Gary T, husband of Suzanne, East Coventry, PA; Patrick R., husband of Donna, Exeter Twp., PA; 5 grandchildren: Ashley, Kaila, Timothy, Jeffrey and Caitlin and many nieces and nephews. Stanley was pre-deceased by two sons: Michael and Denis Wiand and siblings: Edward, Myron, Robert and Althea Wiand.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at St. Joseph's R.C. Church, 3640 Schuylkill Road, Spring City, Pennsylvania on Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at 11:00 am. Officiating will be Rev. Charles R. O'Hara. Burial will be held in St. Ann Cemetery. Friends will be received from 10:00 am - 10:45 am Tuesday at church. Contributions may be made to The USO, P.O.
