Harold R. "Ray" Seibel, of North Wildwood, NJ and formerly of Schuylkill Township, died on September 16, 2010 in Phoenixville, following a courageous battle with heart disease. He was 71.
He was born May 5, 1939, in Philadelphia, to the late Harold and Elsie (Baldwin) Seibel. He attended local schools and graduated from Edward W. Bok Technical High School in 1957. Ray served in the United States Army and attained the rank of corporal. On May 1963 he married his high school sweetheart, Shirley Connerton.
Ray moved to the area in 1965 and began working for the Burroughs Corporation (later Unisys). He would remain at Unisys for 30 years, retiring in 1996. He later worked for Nabisco, retiring in 2003.
Ray was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Phoenixville, and Holy Trinity Church in Wildwood. He was a member of the Phoenixville Kiwanis Club. He enjoyed working out at the Phoenixville YMCA and grocery shopping for local food banks.
Ray is survived by his daughter, Alicia (Charles) Dewey of Phoenixville, a son, James R. Seibel, of Boyertown, three granddaughters, Jeanette and Rachel Dewey, and Sarah Seibel. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley, and his brother, Ronald.
A memorial service for Ray will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 28, at St. John's Lutheran Church, St. John's Circle, Phoenixville, PA. Relatives and friends may call at the church Fireside Room from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of services. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ray's name to the American Heart Association or Compassionate Care Hospice Foundation.
