Raymond A. Gappa, age 72, of Phoenixville, PA, passed away on Thursday, September 24, 2015 in Paoli Hospital. Born in Phoenixville, PA, he was a son of the late Joseph and Pauline (Lascoskie) Gappa.
Mr. Gappa graduated from St. Pius X High School. He served in the National Guard, being activated and stationed at Ft. Dix during Vietnam. He worked as a truck driver with his father at Gappa Oil before becoming a long-haul truck driver transporting steel. He had a love for Peterbilt trucks, casinos, and the shore where he enjoyed sitting on the boardwalk. He liked to cook, talk, and was a great person to hold a conversation with.
Mr. Gappa is survived by one son, Raymond A. (Gina) Gappa Jr. of Phoenixville, PA and two daughters, Jennifer (K. Michael) Stitzer of Richmond, VA and Rachel (Martin) Perez of Birdsboro, PA; seven siblings, Barbara (Steve) Aaron of Fort Myers, FL, Joseph (Linda) Gappa of Phoenixville, Gregory Gappa of Spring City, Michelle (Louis) Lampkin of Millsboro, DE, Lisa (Robert) Gappa-Norris of Cabin John, MD, David Gappa of Millsboro, DE, and Constance (David) Gappa-Richey of Schwenksville; four grandchildren, Jessica and Michael Stitzer and Logan and Joshua Perez; one great granddaughter, Emma Grace Stitzer; many nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.He was preceded in death by one brother, Louis Gappa and one nephew, Jay Smale.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Mass at St. Joseph Church, 3640 Schuylkill Road, Spring City, PA on Friday, October 2, 2015 at 11:00 am. Officiating will be Rev. Charles R. O'Hara. Burial will be held in the Holy Trinity Cemetery, Phoenixville, PA. Friends will be received from 10:00 am - 10:45 am Friday at the church.
