Maj. Raymond R. Stafford, Retired US Army, age 90, formerly of Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, passed away on Tuesday, March 14, 2017 in Parkhouse Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Royersford, PA.

Born on July 10, 1926 in Mount Ida, Arkansas, he was the oldest son of the late Hiram Abraham and Effie Faye (Scott) Stafford and was predeceased by his wife of 62 years, Shirley Louise (Smith) Stafford. Raymond was also predeceased by 3 brothers and one sister. Raymond served in the US ARMY, Medical Company 19th Infantry Regiment of the 24th Infantry Division for 20 years. He saw action in WWII in New Guinea and the Philippines as well as during the Korean War where he received a Purple Heart and was awarded two Bronze Stars. After retiring from the military, he served as Director of Purchasing at Lankenau Hospital in Philadelphia.

Raymond is survived by 2 sisters, Dean Holt and Carolyn Fields and brother, Dale Stafford. Also, Raymond is survived by 5 children: Dorothy Manney wife of Thomas, Robert Stafford husband of Janice, Catherine Wright wife of David, Leonard Hiram Stafford husband of Cindy and Elizabeth Clarke wife of James as well as 14 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.

Throughout Raymond's life he was extensively involved in many community organizations.
Later in life due to age and ability, Raymond was not able to be personally involved in these organizations although he supported them financially: Boy Scouts of America, Masonic Lodge, he served as Past Master of Phoenix Lodge #75 F and AM, served as Past Grand Patron of Pennsylvania Order of the Eastern Star, Sojourners, 24th Infantry Division Association, Military Officers Association of America, American Legion, VFW, Director of Hospital Purchasing Agents Association of Philadelphia, Toastmasters International, First United Methodist Church of Phoenixville and Cedarville UMC of Pottstown, as well as the Methodist Church of Lady Lake, Florida. He served as Welcome Wagon at Keystone Villa and worked in the Gift Shop.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Service on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at 11:00 am at Campbell-Ennis- Klotzbach Funeral Home, 610 S. Main St., Phoenixville, PA. Officiating will be Pastor Matt Manney of Greater Philadelphia Baptist Church, 623 Manchester Ave., Media, PA. Burial will be in Valley Forge Memorial Gardens, 352 S. Gulph Rd., King of Prussia, PA. Friends will be received from 9:30 to 10:45 am followed by Eastern Star and Masonic Services. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the charity of your choice in memory of Raymond.
