RICHARD A. HOLMAN
Richard A. Holman, 73, died Thursday, August 27, 2009, in the Mercy Suburban Hospital, Norristown. He was a resident of Meadowood at Worcester, Lansdale.
Born in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late Joseph W. Holman Sr. and the late C. Alberta (Dick) Holman. He was a graduate of Phoenixville Area High School and Franklin & Marshall College with a Bachelor of Arts in Pre-Theology.
He taught history in several area high schools as well as U.S. Department of Defense Dependents Overseas Schools in Japan, Germany, and Newfoundland. He later became a regional salesman for I.C. Isaacs clothing, Baltimore.
A long-time member of the First Presbyterian Church of Phoenixville and Pickering Hunt Club, he enjoyed the sport of fox hunting and was an avid traveler.
He is survived by his step-mother, Mary K. Holman, Lansdale; two brothers, Joseph W. Holman Jr., Malvern, and Robert D. Holman, Chester Springs; a sister, Bette, wife of Robert E. Mooney, Douglassville; two step-brothers, Richard Carville, Portland, OR, and James Carville, Exton, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 2, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Phoenixville, 145 S. Main Street, Phoenixville, PA, with visitation immediately preceding. Officiating will be the Rev. David C. McCabe. Memorial gifts may be made to the Main Line Animal Rescue, P.O.
