Richard C. "Rip" Fries, age 68, husband of Barbara A. (Barnshaw) Fries, of Spring City, PA died early Sunday morning, April 24, 2011 in his home. Born in Pottstown, PA, he was a son of the late Earl S. and Alice W. (Wynn) Fries. Mr. Fries was a 1960 graduate of the Spring-Ford High School in Royersford, PA. Mr. Fries was a stone mason by trade. He took an early retirement from Firestone Tire & Rubber Company to create a business partnership with Ray Ballone called Custom Homes and Additions. He was a member of the Coventryville United Methodist Church. He was a member of Mt. Pickering Lodge #446 F. & A.M., where he served as Worshipful Master in 1976. Further he was a member of the Consistory of the Valley of Reading A.A.S.R.M., the Hasson Temple, A.A.O.N.M.S., Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Forest #34,Spring City, PA, Mr. Fries was an avid fisherman and loved bull dogs. He enjoyed antiques, sold them with his wife through "Bulldog Antiques & Collectables." He was also a member of the Liberty Fire Company in Spring City, and the American Legion, Thomas O'Connor Post 602, and the Moose of Florida.
In addition to his wife of 49 years, Mr. Fries is survived two daughters; Deborah L., wife of Dale G. Crable, of Boyertown, Terry L. Fries, of Sinking Spring, PA, one sister; Sandra C. Geisler, of Spring City, two grandchildren; Amanda and Garret Crable, two great-grandchildren; Madison Rohrbach, Emma Flood, several nieces and nephews. Mr. Fries is also survived by his grandpup; Zachary.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Masonic Funeral Service on Saturday, April 30, 2011 at the Cattermole-Klotzbach Funeral Home, 600 Washington Street, Royersford, PA at 10 AM, immediately followed by religious services by Rev. Blaine R. Wenger. Burial will be in Coventryville Cemetery. Calling time is from 9-10 AM on Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in his name to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 3551 North Broad Street, Philadelpahia, PA 19140.
