Richard H. Schneider, Jr., age 74, of Elverson, Pennsylvania, formerly Oregon, passed away on Saturday, June 5, 2021 in Phoenix Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing, Phoenixville, PA. Born on April 9, 1947 in Milwaukee, WI, he was a son of the late Elizabeth A. (Wolfe) and Richard H. Schneider, Sr.
A graduate of West High School in Rockford, Ill, Richard enlisted in the United States Air Force on June 14, 1965, the day after graduation. He honorably served during the Vietnam War until his discharge on November 21, 1968. While living in California, then Oregon, he practiced the printing trade. He continued his education at Lane Community College in Eugene, OR with a special interest in art history. He moved to Pennsylvania in 1999, later working in home renovation and remodeling.
Richard is survived by his siblings: Barbara A Schneider, wife of Jon C. Palmer, of Elverson, PA, Susan J., wife of Jim Runnerstrom, of Charleston, SC, Mary E. Plischke, of Burnaby, British Columbia, Russell C., husband of Ann Schneider, of Wiscasset, ME and Robert J., husband of Cathy Schneider, of Folly Beach, SC; many nieces and nephews; and several great nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Contributions may be made in Richard's name to Compassus Hospice or a local homeless shelter.
