Obituary

Robert L. Austin, 84, a lifelong resident of Royersford, died on Friday, April 15, 2011 at his home. He was the husband of the late Gloria A. (Peiffer) Austin.

Bob was born in Royersford to the late Curtis L. and Bessie (DeWalt) Austin. He served his country honorably in the Coast Guard during World War II. He then returned home to work for Savage Appliance until purchasing the business and operating it as Austin Appliance until retiring in 1991.

He was a man of many hats at First United Church of Christ, Royersford, PA. He served as an Elder, Head Usher, Chairman of the Property Committee and Sexton respectively. He was also a member of the Lions Club of Royersford and a life member of the Humane Fire Company. Bob was a talented woodworker, devoted community servant and faithful family man.

He is survived by his children: Glenn C. Austin, of Dushore; Larry S. Austin and wife Linda, of Elverson; Robin F. Miller and husband Larry, of Spring City; and Dale Austin and wife Lori, of Royersford; six grandchildren: Heather Kiser, Rob Miller, Natalie Reigner, wife of Steve; Whitney Austin, Tyler C. Austin and Hunter G. Austin; four great-grandchildren: Logan Kiser, Meredith Kiser, Maximus A. Reigner and T.J. Austin; and brother, Charles Austin and wife Emma J ean, of Perkiomenville. He was also predeceased by a sister, Evelyn Garis.

His Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at 11:00 AM at First U.C.C., Fourth Ave. and Washington St., Royersford, PA 19468. Officiating will be Rev. Kate Davidheiser. Visitation will be on Monday evening at Cattermole-Klotzbach Funeral Home, 600 Washington St. Royersford, PA from 7-8:30 PM and at the church on Tuesday from 9:45 to 10:45 AM. Burial will be in Brownback's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 401 Creekside Dr. PO Box 14, Pottstown, PA 19464 or the First UCC, 367 Washington St. Royersford, PA 19468.
