Robert M. Gehret, 87, husband of Helen E. (Fleming) Gehret, of Phoenixville, passed away on Wednesday, September 22, 2010, in the Parkhouse Providence Pointe. Born in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late John A. and Blanche (Huff) Gehret.

Mr. Gehret attended Kings Point Academy and Villanova University. He served in the United States Merchant Marines during World War II. Bobby was a member of New Eden Fellowship in Schwenksville where he was a former head of Church Council. He was employed as a planner for Container Corp. until his retirement.

An outdoorsman, Bobby enjoyed fox hunting with Pickering Hunt Club and enjoyed sailing on the Chesapeake with his grandchildren. He and his wife raised dogs and enjoyed riding horses. He was also an avid reader.

In addition to his wife of 45 years, Mr. Gehret is survived by twin daughters, Deborah Jack and Diane Nevitt, both of Norristown, son, Robert L. (Susan) Gehret, of Philadelphia, four step children, sister, Cynthia Harkins of Virginia, two brothers, Allan Gehret of Norristown, and Philip Gehret, of Bloomsburg, three grandchildren, Tara Wade, Robert (Jennifer) Gehret, and Kristi (Larry) Eby, and five great grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Bobby's memorial service at the new Eden Fellowship, 609 Main Street, Schwenksville, on Wednesday, September 29, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. Officiating will be the Rev. Charles Sprunger. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the New Eden Fellowship or the Delaware Humane Association, 701 A Street, Wilmington, DE 19801.
