Obituary

Robert I. Tyson, formerly of Royersford, passed away on Saturday, January 08, 2011 at the Lancaster home of his son Drew, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late Lola J. (Foreman) Tyson, to whom he was married on July 16, 1949.

He was born in Royersford to the late Paul F. and Alma Tyson. After graduation from Royersford High School, Bob served in the Army during World War II in the Pacific Theatre of Operations. After coming home, he went to work at the automobile dealership founded by his father in Royersford which later was moved to Pottstown as Tyson Pontiac and Cadillac.

Bob was a devoted father and husband to Lola for 57 years. His family was raised in Collegeville where the Tyson home was the focal point for family picnics, large family gatherings for Thanksgiving and Christmas, baseball and basketball games, swimming and many other family activities including the legendary "Truck Patch". Bob taught his three sons how to hunt and fish and the family took numerous trips together to enjoy these activities including a few memorable vacations to Canada and frequent trips to their vacation trailers in Dushore, PA and Rehoboth Beach, DE. Upon retirement, Bob and "Tillie" moved to Rehoboth Beach where they enjoyed activities with their many great friends and neighbors including surf fishing together and the continuation of his truck patch providing fresh tomatoes and vegetables to much of the Eagles Landing condominium development. After the death of Tillie, Bob moved to Lancaster where he spent his last years avidly supporting the Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies and the nearby gambling casinos.

He is survived by his sons: Drew Tyson and wife Diane, of Lancaster; Carter Tyson and wife Sharon, of Fremont, CA; and Bruce Tyson and wife Margot Tsakonas, of Maple Valley, WA; grandchildren: Chad and wife Pam, Trevor and wife Julia, Andy and wife Amanda, Alex and Adrienne Tyson and four great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Savannah, Trevor, and Trista.

His Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at 12:00 PM at Cattermole-Klotzbach Funeral Home, 600 Washington St., Royersford, PA. Friends will be received an hour prior to the service. Officiating will be Rev. Lee F. Adams. Burial will follow in Fernwood Cemetery where Bob and Tillie's cremains will be interred together.
