Robert G. Painter, 73, husband of Linda L. Painter, of North Coventry, passed away on Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at his residence, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born on February 27, 1943 in Pottstown, he was the son of G. Marie (Mertz,) of Pottstown and the late W. Robert Painter.


Mr. Painter had been a heavy equipment operator and began working for his family businesses, W. Robert Painter Inc. and Lionville Water Co., in 1954 at the age of 11. He retired a year and a half ago from Gambone Brothers and had worked with other construction companies over the years. He had a great love for running heavy equipment and digging dirt!


Robert was a graduate of Owen J. Roberts High School and had played semi pro football for the Pottstown Marauders. He enjoyed gardening and his flowers beds and roses. He had a passion for boating, loved fishing and every minute spent on his boat. His dream was to retire and purchase a new boat. He loved to travel, especially enjoying road trips to explore the United States. Robert formerly raced cars, collected models cars, enjoyed working on cars and had owned a few antique cars.


In addition to his wife and mother, Mr. Painter is survived by his children: Wendy Painter, of Dushore, Robert G. Jr., husband of Trish Painter, of Bechtelsville, Kim, wife of Alvin Day, of Collegeville, Jason W., husband of Carla Painter, of Spring City and Shannon Painter Kitchen, wife of Kevin M. Kitchen of Douglassville; sister: Diane, wife of Fred Ritenour, of Ponte Vedra, FL; and ten grandchildren: Jimmy, Brielle, Jess, Devin, Austin, Gabrielle, Wyatt, Josh, Chase and Bryce.


Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Ceremony at Brownback's United Church of Christ, Spring City, on Monday, July 11, 2016 at 11:00 am. Officiating will be Rev. Raymond J. Jachowski. Interment will be held in the Brownback's United Church of Christ Cemetery. Friends will be received from 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm Sunday evening at the Cattermole - Klotzbach Funeral Home and from 10:00 am - 10:45 am Monday morning at the Church.
