Obituary

Robert M. Stengel of Phoenixville, formerly of Doylestown, PA, passed away peacefully with his wife and children by his side on Saturday, June 16, 2018. He was 85. Robert was the loving husband of Frances P. Stengel with whom he had shared over 62 years of marriage.

Born in Pittsburgh and raised in Buffalo, he was the son of the late Dorland C. and Virginia Stengel. He graduated from Phillips Andover Academy, Harvard University and the University of Buffalo Law School. He served as a Captain in the US Army and was a member of the National Guard. He practiced law for over 50 years, more than 40 of which were in Doylestown, PA. He was licensed to practice in New York and Pennsylvania. Robert was a founding Board Member of the Conservatory Music School and was on the Board of Directors of Co-Mans, Inc., in Bucks County. After retiring from the law, he became an Associate Broker and Realtor with Caldwell Banker Realty Corporation in Lansdale, PA.

In addition to his wife, Robert is survived by his children: Cynthia S., wife of Scott Paris, of Phoenixville, Katherine E., wife of Jesse Krauch, of Ellicott City, MD and Andrew H., husband of Michelle Stengel, of Allentown; grandchildren: Abigail and Nathan Stengel, of Allentown; sister: Sue Tober, wife of William Tober, of West Seneca, NY; brother-in-law: James Palermo, and his partner Anita Regish, of Southampton, MA; and sister-in-law: Marie Lechowski, wife of Walter Lechowski, of Tonawanda, NY.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his memorial service at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 121 Church Street, Phoenixville, on Friday, June 29, 2018, at 11:00 am. Officiating will be The Rev. Dr. Koshy Mathews. Friends will be received from 10:30 am - 11:00 am at the Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Robert's name to the Paoli Hospital Foundation, 255 West Lancaster Avenue, MOB 3 Suite 231, Paoli, PA 19301 or St. Peters Episcopal Church. Arrangements are being handled by the Campbell - Ennis - Klotzbach Funeral Home, Inc., Phoenixville. His interment will be private.
