Obituary

Ronald J. Fox, age 75, of Philadelphia, PA died Wednesday morning, February 24, 2010 at the Delaware Valley Veterans Home, Philadelphia, PA. Born in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late Frank F. and Violet (Fields) Fox. Mr. Fox was a 1953 graduate of the Lower Merion High School. He was a member of the high school's crew team that won the National School Boys Regatta in 1952. A veteran, he served for the U.S. Navy and was a First Class Communication Technician during the Korean War. He served as a Naval Reservist for three years. He worked in the Steel Industry for over 36 years including the family owned business, Fox Steel Corporation, before retiring.

Mr. Fox was a member of the Philadelphia Rowing Program for the Disabled, and the Soaring of America Veteran Glider Club for the Disabled. He volunteered with the Amp-Peer program of Magee Rehabilitation Hospital. Mr. Fox was a lifelong Philadelphia Eagles Fan, and enjoyed golf and flying. He was a champion rower and could be found rowing on the Schuylkill River since his early teens.

Mr. Fox is survived by three children; Ronald J. (Darlene) Fox, Jr, of Lancaster, PA, Cynthia Y. Fox, of Boyertown, PA, Christina L. Frankhouser, of Lansdale, PA, four brothers and sisters; Jackie (William) Johnston, of Lillian Alabama, Frank (Kay) Fox, of Fairfield Blade, Tennessee, Leon Fox, of Warminster, PA, Robert (Anita)Fox, of Clayton, Delaware, seven grandchildren; Rachel Frankhouser, Jocelyn Fox, Ronald Fox, III, Gabrielle Fox, Shawna Bergen, Tyler Bergen, Bridget Bergen. Mr. Fox was pre-deceased by one brother; Bruce Fox, and step-brothers and sisters.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service at the Cattermole -Klotzbach Funeral Home, 600 Washington Street, Royersford, PA on Tuesday at 10:30 AM. Officiating will be the Rev. Timothy M. Judge. Burial will be in the Limerick Garden of Memories, Limerick, PA. Friends will be received from 9:30 - 10:30 AM Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in his name to the Delaware Valley Veterans Home, 2701 Southampton Road, Philadelphia, PA 19154.
