Roy William Matthews, age 77, husband of the late Mary (Smoyer) Matthews, of Royersford, PA, passed away on Friday, August 19, 2016 in Seasons Hospice.

Born on March 2, 1939 in Bryson City, North Carolina, he was a son of the late Ulrich and Alice (McClure) Matthews. A veteran, he served for the U.S. Navy.

Mr. Matthews worked as a Foreman for PECO for thirty two years before retiring in 1991.

He was a member of Spring City American Legion Post 602 and Birdsboro VFW Post #411.

He is survived by Two Daughters: Robbin Pineda and husband Ernesto of Douglassville, PA; Tammy Matthews of Royersford, PA; Son, Roy Matthews, II of Royersford, PA; Sister, Lee wife of the late Elmer "Reds" Yenchick of Pottstown, PA. 11 Grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by a brother, James Matthews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life at Spring City American Legion, 25 N. Main Street, Spring City, PA on Saturday, September 10, 2016 from 4-8 PM.
