Roy R. Whited, 80, husband of Marlene J. (Roberts) Whited, of Royersford, Pennsylvania, passed away on Thursday, December 29, 2022 in his residence. Born on July 22, 1942 in Mansfield, Ohio, he was a son of the late Opal (Teeter) Sambrick and Raymond B. Whited.
Roy honorably served his country in the United States Army. He had been employed for 38 years in maintenance for Fleming Foods in Oaks until their closure, after which he stayed to maintain the building for the new ownership until his 2007 retirement.
An outdoorsman, Roy enjoyed life and especially liked fishing, hunting, archery, trapping and even raising tracking coonhounds. He also enjoyed golfing, riding his motorcycle, traveling, and playing cards. Above all, Roy was most passionate about his family and grandchildren. He loved playing games with his grandchildren and attending their sporting events.
In addition to his loving wife of 33 years, Roy is survived by his son: Roy R. Whited, II, and his wife, Karen, of Lancaster; grandchildren: Madeline and Harrison Whited; stepson: Russell Simcox, of Phoenixville, and siblings: Nina Shoup, of Jeffersonville, Kay Cory, of Honey Brook, Robert and Angie Whited, of Harmonyville, and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. He is also survived by siblings-in-law: Jeanette Weber and Shirley Bracken of Douglassville, and Ruth and Karl Faust of Gilbertsville.
Funeral services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Roy's name to The Pennsylvania Audubon Society (pa.audubon.org).
