Ruth (Wentzel) Dering, 98, wife of the late John H. Dering, passed away on Saturday evening, January 17, 2015, in the Phoenixville Hospital. Born in Spring City, she was the daughter of the late Elsie (Breidenbach) and John W. Wenzel Sr.

A lifelong resident of Royersford, most recently of 4th Avenue, she was a 1933 graduate of the former Royersford High School. She had been employed as a secretary for Royersford Spring Co. for 35 years and for Bob-Roy Construction in Royersford for 6 years until her 1978 retirement. Ruth was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and the Spring-Ford Country Club, where she played golf for 40 years.

Mrs. Dering is survived by her step-daughter, Phyllis Fulmer, of Douglassville; brother, Richard Wenzel, of Pottstown; 3 step-grandchildren; 4 step-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Ruth’s funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 22, 2015, at 1:00 pm, at the Cattermole-Klotzbach Funeral Home, 600 Washington Street, Royersford, with Rev. Janelle L. Krais officiating. Interment will follow in Fernwood Cemetery. Friends will be received from 12:00-1:00 pm.
