Obituary

Ruth Elaine Long, 79, of Phoenixville, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully on Monday, June 13, 2022 at the Phoenix Center. Born on September 16, 1942, in Oaks, Pennsylvania, Ruth was the daughter of the late Earl R. and Ruth (Dettra) Quay. She was the loving wife of the late Walter R. Long. Mrs. Long was a 1960 graduate of the Spring-Ford High School. Her administrative career began at B.F. Goodrich in Oaks, PA; she worked with O'Donnell, Weiss & Mattei, P.C. in Pottstown, PA; and finished her career working with Waltz Family of Companies in Limerick PA.

Ruth was a very involved member at St. Clare Catholic Church, where she helped clean the church, participated in the Ladies Guild, and helped with countless other facets of the church. She volunteered for many years with the local Cub Scout Pack in Linfield, PA as a den mother. She was a creative woman who loved to bake & decorate beautiful cakes for family and friends.

Mrs. Long is survived by two daughters: Valerie A. (Todd J.) Kubenko of Latrobe, PA and Danielle A. Long of Las Vegas, NV; a son, Lawrence “Larry” E. Long of Chester Springs, PA; siblings: Linda Dieter and Earl Quay; grandchildren: Annaliese M. Long, Gabrielle L. Long, Nathan J. Kubenko and Alexander "AJ" J. Morgan; a great grandchild Leilani G. Robertson; and many nieces and nephews.

A viewing will be held on Wednesday, June 22, 2022, at the Cattermole-Klotzbach Funeral Home from 5pm-7pm. Viewing will resume on Thursday, June 23, 2022, at St. Teresa of Calcutta Catholic Church from 10am-10:45am. A Mass of Christian Burial officiated by Fr. John Gibbons will begin at 11am. Burial will follow in Limerick Garden of Memories. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ruth's name to Compassus Living Foundation at www.compassuslivingfoundation.org/give.
