Obituary

Sally A. Shaffer, age 85, wife of the late Charles J. Shaffer Jr. of Phoenixville, PA, passed away on November 17, 2022, in the Phoenixville Hospital. Born in Bryn Mawr, she was the Daughter of Archibald and Sadie (Byrne) Sykes.

Sally attended St. Ann Catholic School, and graduated from Phoenixville High School. She was a faithful member of St. Ann Catholic Church in Phoenixville, and was a member of Prayer Shawl sewing circle group. She also enjoyed crocheting, and she often would make hats and items for newborns in the hospital and those affected by cancer. Sally volunteered much of her time to the Phoenixville Hospital Thrift Store. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed tending to her flower beds. She could often be found sitting on her front porch and taking in the neighborhood. Most of all, she loved supporting her grandchildren at all of their events and through all their endeavors.

Sally is survived by four children, Denise, wife of Matthew Santiago, Timothy, husband of Maureen Shaffer, Christine, wife of Paul Fry, and Jeanine, wife of Levon Kelsey; seventeen grandchildren, Shannon, Matty, Kylee, LaTeisha, Faleisha, Quadea, Thomas, Shakera, Levon, Johnathon, Connor, Aaron, Logan, Nathan, Sophia, Jayden, and Sheamus; nine great-grandchildren, Giulianna, Chase, Musa, Jahi, Jamari, Carson, Selena, Mackynze and Adonis; three brothers, Bernard, husband of Regina Sykes, Robert, husband of Barbara Sykes, and Kenneth, husband of Barbara Sykes; bonus daughter, Jill Peirson; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one son, Thomas Shaffer and one brother, Thomas Sykes.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service in the St. Ann Chapel, 604 South Main Street, Phoenixville, PA on Saturday, November 26, 2022 at 10:00 AM. Officiating will be Rev. John Newns. Burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Friends will be received from 8:30 AM-10:00 AM Saturday morning in the Chapel.
