Samuel Prentice Roeder, 81, of Palmerton, PA, passed away on December 15, 2023, in Huntingdon Valley, PA. He was born on January 18, 1942, in Palmerton, PA, to the late Samuel N. Roeder and Edith M. (Crockett) Roeder.
Sam was a graduate of Palmerton High School and Franklin and Marshall College. He also held master's degrees from Cornell University and Temple University. He was a scholar and a student. His inspiration was Richard Feynman, theoretical physicist.
Sam was a dedicated teacher, having taught physics, chemistry and mathematics at Abington High School and Penn State University Ogontz Campus. Sam was a sought-after tutor in the Abington area for both high school and college students. He had a passion for education and inspired countless students throughout his career.
In his free time, Sam enjoyed singing basso profundo, woodworking and weightlifting. He found joy in expressing his creativity through music and crafting beautiful pieces with his hands.
Samuel will be deeply missed by his loving daughter, Kristen Roeder-LoMonaco, and his cherished grandchildren, Megan LoMonaco-Kerr, Alexa LoMonaco, Zachary Jahr and great grandchild, Dean Kerr. He is also survived by his brother, David Roeder and wife, Linda, sister Ellen Thoma and husband Ronald, and his mother, Edith Roeder. He was preceded in death by his father, Samuel N Roeder, daughter, Lauren C. Jahr and sister, Cathryn (Roeder) Miller.
A memorial service to honor Samuel's life will be held at New Goshenhoppen UCC, 1070 Church Road, East Greenville, PA 18041 on January 18, 2024. Visitation will be held at 12:00 noon with a service following at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow the service in the Church cemetery.
