Scott D. Bitler, age 31, died Saturday morning, November 22nd, 2008 in the Reading Hospital and Medical Center, Reading, PA, from injuries sustained during a robbery in his barber shop on Friday evening.? Born in Pottstown, he was the son of James E., and Nancy A. (Moore) Bitler.? He was a 1995 graduate of the Owen J. Roberts High School.? Mr. Bitler then attended the Charlie Haines Barber School in Reading.? He owned and operated Scott's Barber Shop in Reading for over 6 years.? He enjoyed his profession and was very active in the community in which he worked and lived.? Mr. Bitler was also a member of the St. Peter United Church of Christ, Knauertown for many years.? He was a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and enjoyed playing card games with his friends.?
In addition to his parents, Mr. Bitler is survived by his girlfriend, April B. Halligan, of Exeter, six brothers and sisters; Todd, of Texas, Michael, of Phoenixville, Roger, of North Carolina, Kimberly, wife of Eric Becker, of Birdsboro, Gregory, of Quakertown, PA, Allison, wife of Kevin Thompson, of Honeybrook, PA, and seven nieces and nephews.? Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Service at the St. Peter United Church of Christ, Knauertown, 1920 Ridge Road, St. Peter's, PA 19470 on Saturday morning, November 29, 2008 at 10:30 AM.? Officiating will be the Rev. Milton E. Detterline.? Burial will be in the Church cemetery.? Friends will be received from 6:00 - 8:00PM, Friday evening at the Cattermole - Klotzbach Funeral Home, 600 Washington Street, Royersford, PA or from 9:00 - 10:15AM, Saturday morning at the Church.? In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to aid in the tuition costs of Scott's nephew, Sean Becker.? Scott was instrumental in Sean choosing Nursing school.? Checks may be made to "Nancy A.
