Sharon V. (Miskiewicz) Gerhart, 65, wife of John S. Gerhart, of Phoenixville, passed away on Saturday, February 16, 2019 in Parkhouse Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born on January 22, 1954 in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, she was a daughter of Michael and Martha (Sissler) Miskiewicz.
Shari's ambition motivated her to complete evening classes in order to obtain a Bachelor's of Science degree in accounting from Villanova University despite working full time and being pregnant. She was employed at a Big 4 firm after college and maternity leave.
Shari studied voice and dance as an avocation. She was a classical singer and at 16 her voice coach asked her to move to Italy to study opera. However, Shari choose to remain in the United States and finish her schooling. In addition she loved attending ballet and modern dance classes. As an adult Shari combined these passions as a judge for multiple America's Little Miss pageants. An avid reader, Shari owned many books on Medieval history, Arthurian legend and native American studies. She was a member of the Richard III Society and the Valley Forge Romance Writers, where she was an editor of their monthly newsletter. Most importantly, Shari was a devoted mother to her daughter and spent much of her time with Kathy and her friends. She sewed clothes for Barbie dolls and enjoyed taking Kathy and her friends places, oftentimes to local parks and to enjoy lunch or a snack.
In addition to her husband, Shari is survived by her daughter: Kathryn Gerhart, of Medford, NJ; and siblings: David, husband of Kim Miskiewicz, of NC, Jane Kramer, of Phoenixville and Donald Miskiewicz, of Norristown.
Funeral services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Shari's name to the National Wildlife Federation, www.NWF.org or the ASPCA, www.ASPCA.org/donate.
