Shirley B. Schiffman, age 90, wife of the late Milton Schiffman, of Sanibel, Florida, passed away Wednesday, September 7, 2022 in her residence. Born on November 25, 1931 in Syracuse, New York, she was the daughter of the late Fannie (Stein) and Joseph Berger.

A graduate of Mount Sinai Medical School in New York City, Shirley had been employed as an operating room nurse in the Phoenixville Hospital.

She was a very active member of Congregation B'nai Jacob Synagogue and was a member of the B'nai Jacob Sisterhood. Shirley had a love for musicals and shows and was a longtime member of the former Valley Forge Music Fair. She was also an avid knitter, often creating baby sweaters to be given to anyone with a new baby. She had an incredible green thumb and could get anything to grow. Which was proven site on her property. She loved to bake and was an incredible cook. Once on Sanibel she volunteered at the J.N. Ding Darling Bird Sanctuary gift shop for over 10 years (2000 hrs.+). She also volunteered for the Sea Turtle Program - SCCF. While on her daily 5-mile walks, she would count the number of Sea Turtles that laid eggs on the beaches of Sanibel. She was also a very active member of the Sanibel Seniors. Doing aerobics 3 times a week, going on trips, and playing card games.

Shirley had many lifelong friends. She had a knack for making new friends wherever she went and keeping these friends for the rest of her life.

Shirley traveled extensively with family and friends, enjoying elder hostels and cruises, which often fueled her passion for learning anything new. She loved time spent at the beach and she started traveling to Sanibel, FL. Shirley and Milt found they loved Sanibel so much, that they bought a home and spent over 30 wonderful years there.

Mrs. Schiffman is survived by her children: David N. Schiffman and his wife, Anne Watkins, of Royersford, PA and Lisa M. Fegan and her husband, Bruce D., of King of Prussia, PA; and granddaughters: Sadie Schiffman of Royersford, PA and Hannah Schiffman of Spring City, PA. In addition to her husband and parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her brother: Harold Berger.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service on Monday, September 12, 2022 at 11:00 am at Congregation B'nai Jacob, Starr and Manavon Streets, Phoenixville, Pennsylvania. Officiating will be Rabbi Jeff Sultar. Interment will follow in the Congregation B'nai Jacob Cemetery, Mont Clare. Friends will be received from 10:30 - 11:00 am at the Synagogue.
