Stephen Phillip Kovach, age 70, of Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, passed away on Monday, January 9, 2023. Born in Pottstown, he was a son of the late Mary (Demeter) and Paul Kovach Sr.
For many years he was employed as a spot welder. Stephen lived a simple life. In his younger years he loved riding his bike and fishing. He enjoyed watching wrestling and auto racing. Old movies, football, especially games of the Philadelphia Eagles and watching the Phillies became Stephen’s favorite pastime as he grew older. He also enjoyed listening to music and was a huge Elvis fan.
He had a great time playing, and an even better time winning, Bingo, which is how he accumulated many of the trinkets that he collected. Over the years, Stephen fought hard against all that was against him, but he made his way through life with a great sense of humor. Above all things, he had an immense love for his children.
Stephen is survived by his daughters: Jennifer and Amy Kovach, both of Douglassville; granddaughter: Crystalynn Willman, of Douglassville; siblings: Suzanne, wife of Kenneth Umstead, of Spring City, Linda, wife of David McDermott, of Collegeville and Paul Jr., husband of Pam Kovach, of Perkiomenville; and former wife: Joanne Kovach, of Douglassville, with whom he retained a respectful relationship. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Maryann Kovach.
