Stephen L. Wiand, age 59, husband of Denise N. (Natale) Wiand, of Phoenixville, PA, passed away on Sunday, December 13, 2015 at home. Born on March 25, 1956 in Phoenixville, he was a son of Mary E. (Baker) Wiand of Landisburg, PA and the late Robert P. Wiand.
Mr. Wiand was a graduate of the Northern Chester County Technical High School studying mechanics. He worked for Clarence Wilson farm equipment post graduation for a number of years, and later worked as a truck driver for various local companies. He owned and operated his own trucking business from 1994-2004. He began working at Verizon in 2004 as a logistics tractor trailer driver, and was currently employed as a storeroom logistics manager for the company. He was a volunteer firefighter at the Ridge Fire Company for over 15 years. Steve enjoyed RV camping trips with his family to the New England area over the years, and was an avid farm equipment owner and collector. He enjoyed using his hands and mechanical skills in both fixing problems and coming up with new solutions. He also enjoyed woodworking and building bird houses which were put around the property.
In addition to his wife and mother, Mr. Wiand is survived by one daughter, Kristina L. Wiand of Harrisburg, PA; four brothers, David J., husband of Rose Wiand of Boyertown, PA, Robert Wiand of Wallops Island, VA, Daniel Wiand of Landisburg, PA, and James S., husband of Kathy Wiand of Reading, PA; as well as six nieces and nephews. Mr. Wiand was preceded in death by one sister, Marilyn Ebright.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service at the Cattermole-Klotzbach Funeral Home, 600 Washington Street, Royersford, PA 19468 on Friday, December 18, 2015 at 11:00 am. Officiating will be Rev. James R. Roth. Burial will follow in the Vincent Mennonite Cemetery, Spring City. Friends will be received a the funeral home Friday morning from 9:00-11:00 AM..
