Sue J. (Sparling) Weidner, age 88, wife of the late Kenneth R. Weidner, of Downingtown, Pennsylvania, passed away on Monday, September 21, 2026 in her residence. Born in Bad Axe, MI, she was a daughter of the late Wilhelmina M. (Pellegrom) and Doyle P Sparling.

Sue attended school in Chicago, where she earned her teaching degree before marrying Ken in September of 1959. The newlyweds first settled in Saint Joseph, Michigan, before moving to Trenton, a suburb of Detroit, to begin raising their family. In 1971, Ken's career took them to the Adirondack region of Ticonderoga, New York. During their time there, Sue returned to her roots in education, teaching from 1982 to 1987 at Mountainside Bible School, a Christian school where her own children attended.

In 1987, the family relocated to the Philadelphia area, where Sue transitioned into administrative work. She spent four years at the Elkins Park Library before ultimately retiring around 2006 from the Robert Wood Johnson Group in Princeton, New Jersey.

No matter where the family lived, Sue's life was deeply rooted in her devotion to her Lord. She joyfully volunteered her time with her church, supported global missions, and used her sewing talents to make clothing for missionaries. She was also deeply proud of her time volunteering with ISI Princeton, where she taught English to international students through Princeton University.

Sue was a woman of many passions. She was an avid reader, loved music, and was a sports fan who always knew what was going on in the sports world-especially when it came to Michigan Football. An exceptional cook, Sue made everything from scratch, from baking fresh breads to canning fruits, ensuring her family never went hungry. She and Ken also cherished their time together traveling through Europe and relaxing on cruises. An incredibly talented seamstress and quilter, Sue lovingly crafted baby blankets for many children, including her own grandchildren. In her retirement, nothing brought her greater joy than doting on her grandchildren and taking every opportunity to cheer them on at their activities.

Sue is survived by her children: David J., husband of Wendi Weidner, Elizabeth A. Weidner, and Matthew T., husband of Alexandra Weidner; grandchildren: Laura (Chris) Ulshafer, Kirianna and Nataliya Weidner, and Nicholas Chiodo; and brothers: Glenn and Doug Sparling. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sister: Victoria Cumm.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her graveside service at Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery, 39 Bonnie Brae Road, Spring City, on Thursday, September 24, 2026, at 11:00 am.
