Sula Mae Stone, age 97, originally from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, went to be with the Lord on Easter Sunday, April 9, 2023 at home lovingly surrounded by her family. Born in Spartanburg, South Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Hannah and Elmo Wyatt.
Sula Mae graduated from Downingtown Boarding High School. After 27 years, she retired as a crossing guard for the School District of Philadelphia. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother always available for her family regardless of the situation. She loved traveling, especially on her annual bus trips, playing pinochle with her "Friends Club" and cooking for family and friends. She was an avid homemaker and seamstress who enjoyed sewing and decorating.
Sula Mae was a faithful member of the Resurrection Baptist Church in Philadelphia where she served as one of the mothers of the Church until she relocated to Phoenixville in 2019 where she'd attended Bethel Baptist Church until she was physically unable to do so. She always had a kind word for everyone and loved to hug and hold hands with anyone with whom she'd made contact. She loved the Lord and in her adult years, she lived an honorable Christian life worthy of celebration.
Sula Mae is survived by two daughters, Rosalyn, wife of Bernard Sheckleford and Evelyn, wife of the late William Norton; eight grandchildren, Kimberly, Robert, Tarrika, Tamara, Bernard Jr. Bryon, Brittney and Dominique and numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
