Obituary

Thelma Styer Fisher of Phoenixville, passed away on August 2, 2021, at the age of 103. She had resided at the Birdsboro Senior Living Lodge for 2 years. Thelma was born at home on a farm, in Spring City, on March 4, 1918, to Webster and Laura “Elsie” Funk Styer. She lived most of her life in Charlestown.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Elwood R. Fisher, her sons Robert E. Fisher of WPB, Fl., and David A. Fisher of Phoenixville, PA.

She is survived by her daughters, Jean, wife of Robert Sterner of Pottstown, Gloria Byers of Freedom, WY and her son, Carl Fisher and wife Sharon of Phoenixville. Also, survived by many Grand (20), Great-Grand (31), Great-Great Grand-children (15), and a beloved friend to all who knew her.

Thelma graduated from Spring City High School & Pottstown School of Nursing. She did private duty as an RN for several years in the Pottstown and Phoenixville area. On October 9, 1940, she married Elwood Fisher a dairy farmer and enjoyed 65 years of marriage.

Thelma was a member at the Charlestown United Methodist Church, where she had been an active member since 1950. Also, a co-founder in the Charlestown Historic Society, since 1979, belonged to the Sr. Extension Group of Pottstown and was a life member of the Pottstown School of Nursing. Thelma enjoyed her family reunions, gardening, collecting articles and recipes for her many scrapbooks.

Thelma will be laid to rest next to her husband at East Vincent UCC Cemetery.

A Celebration of Thelma’s Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers donation may be made in Thelmas's name to Charlestown United Methodist Church, 650 Church Rd, Malvern, PA 19355.
