Theodore R. Shafer, 92, husband of the late Harriet Mae (Swortwood) Shafer, of Royersford, passed away on Wednesday, December 23, 2015 in Lankenau Hospital. Born on February 14, 1923 in Mountain Top, he was a son of the late Myrtle (Fitzcharles) and James Shafer.

Mr. Shafter served in the United States Army during World War II, having served in Germany, Belgium, France, Austria and in the Battle of the Bulge. After his service, he was employed as a tire builder for Firestone until its closing, and then Occidental Chemical for five years, until his retirement in 1985.

Ted enjoyed working with his hands, making, building and fixing things. He loved helping others and was an avid dog lover. He loved going daily to the Spring-Ford Diner to visit the employees and his friends.

Mr. Shafer is survived by two daughters: Marilyn Mae, husband of Rick Bush, of Royersford and Wilma Woods, of Royersford; grandchildren, Jennifer, Jason, Jared, Joe, Kerri and Kristen.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service at the Cattermole - Klotzbach Funeral Home, 600 Washington Street, Royersford, on Monday, December 28, 2015 at 2:00 pm.
