Obituary

Thomas H. Yeakle, 83, husband of Diane (Love) Yeakle, of Glenmoore, Pennsylvania, passed away on Friday evening, December 13, 2019 in his residence. Born on October 30, 1936 in Norristown, he was the son of the late Dorothy (Cook) Briggs and Thomas H. Yeakle, Sr.

Tom received a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Cornell University. At Cornell, he was also president of Alpha Chi Rho fraternity. Early in his engineering career, Tom was instrumental in the development of the first postal sorting machines. Later, he became a Manufacturers' Representative in the industrial and filtration equipment industry.

Tom was a long-time member and president of Pickering Hunt Club, an active member and Elder of St. Peter's Pikeland UCC church, and he served on the board of the Valley Forge Sewer Authority.

Tom's hobbies revolved around family activities, including lake and mountain sports in Vermont, and enjoying the water life at their former home on the Chesapeake Bay. Tom's home life was centered on his family, and the many domestic and farm animals raised through the years. His greatest joys came from working outside around the home (especially on his tractor), but he also enjoyed traveling to out-of-the-ordinary places with his wife.

His gentle, humble nature and happy soul will be missed by many.

In addition to his loving wife of 58 years, Mr. Yeakle is survived by his children: Cynthia Y., wife of Scott Maguire, of Chester Springs and Douglas B., husband of Laura Yeakle, of Newtown Square; grandchildren: Christopher and Timothy Maguire and Ella, Owen and Tate Yeakle; and siblings: Barbara Y. Robinson, of Lansdale and Helen B. Wenner, of Georgia. Mr. Yeakle was preceded in death by a son: Thomas H. Yeakle, III.
