It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Vincent Joseph Slanga, age 78 on April
16, 2026.
Vince was born in Philadelphia, PA on August 29,1947.
Vince devoted 32 years of his life to public service as a dedicated Philadelphia firefighter, a career marked by courage, commitment, and an unwavering sense of duty. Outside of his profession, he found great joy in archery hunting and the camaraderie it brought. He was especially proud to be a longtime member of the Lower Providence Rod & Gun Club, where he fully enjoyed the outdoor traditions he loved.
Known for his love of travel, Vince took great pleasure in exploring the East Coast in his camper alongside his family. Among his most cherished memories were the summers and weekends shared at the campground in Sea Isle, NJ - a place that held a special meaning for him and became the backdrop for many treasured family moments.
He is survived by his fiancé Dolores Forte, his children Kimberly (Stephen) Krystopa, Vincent (Denise) Slanga Jr., Barbi (Richard) Pacell, his siblings Mary Waldeck, Sister Joanne Slanga, Michael, Cecelia Bussell, Joseph, his Grandchildren Steven, Kacey, Michael, Alea, Alexis, his seven Great Grandchildren, and his fiancé's children Anthony, Joseph, and Kathleen. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Ellen (McKim) Slanga, his brother John "Jack" Slanga, his sister Kathleen Darlington, his wife Kathleen M. Slanga.
He will be deeply missed but never forgotten. A devout Catholic, Vince lived his life guided by faith and found strength in prayer. May his memory and the promise of eternal rest bring comfort and peace to all who mourn him.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, 838 Walnut St, Royersford, PA 19468 on Thursday, April 23, 2026 at 10:30 AM. Officiating will be Fr. Gorka. Burial will be Private. Friends will be received on Wednesday, April 22, 2026 from 6:00 PM- 8:00 PM at Cattermole-Klotzbach Funeral Home, 600 Washington St, Royersford, PA 19468.
