Obituary

Virginia (Zahn) John, 86, wife of the late Herman A. John, of Schuylkill Township, passed away on Tuesday, April 29, 2014, at Chester Valley Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Paoli. Born in Brooklyn, NY, she was a daughter of the late George A. and Marjorie (Guggolz) Zahn.

Mrs. John attended Carnegie Tech in Pittsburgh. She was a devoted homemaker and housewife, where everything was focused on her children and grandchildren, community and church. Virginia and Herman were a founding family of St. Isaac Jogues Parish in Wayne. She was very active in Schuylkill Township, especially as a Democratic Judge of Elections for many years. She enjoyed sewing, needlepoint and cooking, but was most at home in her garden.

Mrs. John is survived by her children, Mary Virginia, wife of the late Wally Heyse, of Turnersville, NJ, Marjorie, wife of David Hutzayluk, of Pottstown, Elizabeth Anne, wife of Robert Deal, of Huntington, WV, Edmund K., husband of Leslie (Hayn) John, of Malvern, PA, Robert D. John, of Schuylkill Township, PA, Lawrence M., husband of Georgeann (Bier) John, of Arlington, VA, and William A., husband of Robin (Ponzio) John, of Collegeville, PA; siblings, Marjorie Klem, of Locust, NJ, Dr. Edmund Zahn, of Melbourne, FL, George A. Zahn Jr., of Gloucester, VA, and Paul Zahn, of Mathews, VA; nineteen grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral mass at St. Ann Church, Main Street and Third Avenue, Phoenixville, PA, on Monday, May 5, 2014, at 11:00 a.m., with the Rev. John J. Newns officiating. Interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Friends will be received from 9:30-10:45 a.m. at the Church. Memorial contributions may be made in Virginia’s name to St. Ann Parish, 502 S. Main, Phoenixville, PA 19460 or St. Isaac Jogues Parish, 50 West Walker Road, Wayne, PA 19087.
