Obituary

Virginia Lee "Ginny" (Cade) Rooney, age 77, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on December 26th, 2023. Born July 11, 1946 in Drexel Hill, PA, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd and Mildred (Woodroffe) Cade, and the wife of the late John A. Rooney of Phoenixville, PA.

Ginny was a graduate of Upper Darby High School, and worked for Lankenau Hospital for several years before devoting herself to being a wife and mother. In the 1990's and 2000's, Ginny worked as a teacher's assistant in the Phoenixville Area School District. She then became an insurance adjuster for AIG, where she excelled in her varying administrative roles. She was an avid member of the Valley Forge Sweet Adelines for nearly thirty years, traveling the world for various barbershop performances and competitions. She was the director of the Ringing Hills women's barbershop chorus of Pottstown, PA from 1993 until 1996. She was heavily involved in the LCS (Landing Craft Support) Museum non-profit organization for almost three decades, which provides reunions and support for WWII veterans and their families from the Pacific theater of the war. Ginny was a tremendously accomplished cook and baker, whose recipes and dishes endlessly delighted her family and friends.

Ginny is survived by her 4 children, John L. (Kate) Rooney of King Of Prussia, PA, James R. (Dana) Rooney of Royersford, PA, Patrick A. (Margo) Rooney of Phoenixville, PA, Elizabeth A. (Donnie) McGuire of Honey Brook, PA, five grandchildren, sister-in-law, Margaret M. Jacques, and several cousins.
