Obituary

Wanda Jane "Jean" Mourar, age 93, wife of the late Jack M. Mourar, of Barto, PA, passed away on Thursday, March 5, 2026 in the Sanatoga Center, Pottstown, PA. Born on July 10, 1932 in Phoenixville, PA, she was a daughter of the late Stanley and Margaret (Rutter) Dell.

Jean primarily focused on her home and raising her children. She could, however, oftentimes be found building walkways and tending to her gardens, where she found much joy. She spent her youth playing sports and was a talented artist. Family was of the utmost importance to Jean, and she loved taking care of her grandchildren, raising three of them, as well as one great-grandchild. In later years, she turned her affection toward her grand-dogs as well.

Jean was an avid baker and, along with her husband, loved spending time at their cabin in the mountains. She enjoyed sitting by the fire, playing bingo, watching detective shows and especially bird watching. She was a constant presence in helping people in need.

Jean is survived by three children; Jack, husband of the late Judi Bates-Mourar, Vicki, wife of Dale Swartwood, and Debra, wife of Bill Bosch; eleven grandchildren, twenty-one greatgrandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, and many step grandchildren, greatgrandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Donna Chambers; one great-granddaughter, April Heckman; and three siblings, Fay Beard, Shirley Beard, and William Dell.

Funeral services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the American Macular Degeneration Foundation (https://www.macular.org/want-to-help/donate).
