Wayne M. Benfield, age 95, of Spring City, PA, husband of Margaret R. (Gaffey) Benfield died peacefully in his sleep Tuesday morning, March 11th, 2008 in the home that he built.? Mr. Benfield was born November 8th, 1912 in Fagleysville, PA to the late Franklin S. Benfield and Anna S. (Mowry) Benfield.? He started school in the one-room schoolhouse in Fruitville and later moved to Royersford with his family.? He started working at age 14 at the former Royersford Needle Works and during the World War II worked at Doehler-Jarvis in Pottstown.? He later became a builder and general contractor, constructing many homes in Chester and Montgomery counties, finally retiring at age 80.
He enjoyed traveling, bowling at the Phoenix Lanes, woodworking, watching football and spending time with his family.?
In addition to his beloved wife of 57 years, he is sadly missed by one son; Wayne R. Benfield of Lakeland, FL; four daughters; Morine, widow of Gerald Madden, of Spring City, PA, Lorelei, wife of Mark Anthony, of Spring City, Bonnie, wife of Philip Mack, of Gilbertsville and Marilyn, wife of Robert Hendricks, of Spring City as well as fifteen grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.? In addition to his parents, Mr. Benfield was preceded in death by his three brothers; Paul, Harold, and Carl Benfield and one sister, Emma (Benfield) Foster.? Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Service at the Cattermole - Klotzbach Funeral Home, 600 Washington Street, Royersford, PA on Saturday morning, March 15th, 2008 at 10:00 AM.? Burial will be in the Limerick Garden of Memories, Limerick ,PA.? Friends will be received from 8:45 - 9:45AM, Saturday morning at the funeral home.?
