William S. Achey, 81, of Audubon, died on Sunday, March 23, 2008 at Phoenixville Hospital.? He was the husband of Shirley Ann (McCall) Achey.? Born in Pennwynn, Berks County, he was a son of the late Samuel and Mary (Schoenauer) Achey. He was a 1944 graduate of Shillington High School and served in the Navy in World War II from 1944 to 1946.?
William was a member of Operating Engineers Union Local # 542, Ft. Washington, PA.? As a union member, he last worked at Glasgow of Glenside.? Among his memberships, he was an Elder and Trustee of First Presbyterian Church of Port Kennedy.? He was also an active Mason.? He was a member of Thomson Lodge #340 F. & A. M.., serving as Worshipful Master in 1976 and a 32nd Degree Mason member of the Valley of Scranton, A.A.S.R.M.? He was also a former Scout Master.?
In addition to his wife of 59 years he is survived by a son, Michael W. Achey and his wife Janice, of Lower Bank, NJ; daughter, Lori Achey-Decker, of Norristown; sister, Peggy Cooke and her husband Raymond, of New Windsor, NY; brother, Alan Achey, of Stagecoach, NV and grandchildren, Brendon, Grant and Lawrence Achey and Justin and Chelsi Decker.? A memorial service will be held on Friday at 10:30 AM at First Presbyterian Church of Port Kennedy, 1084 Old Valley Forge Rd., King of Prussia, PA 19406.? Burial will follow in the church cemetery beginning with a Masonic Funeral Service by Thomson Lodge.? In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the church memorial fund at the above address.
