William H. Mac Dade, Jr., 93, passed away Thursday, January 31, 2013 at Arden Court. He was born January 12, 1920 in Phoenixville to the late William and Eleanor (Nellie) Mac Dade, Sr. and was preceded in death by his brother, Edward Mac Dade.

Bill is survived by his wife of 65 years, June Miller Mac Dade and daughters Sue Whitman and husband Ed of Sanford, NC; Cheryl Mac Dade of Clarks Summit, PA; Nancy Ingram and husband Jack of Richfield, NC; and son Bill Mac Dade, III and wife Lee Anne of Blufton, SC; grandchildren Jason, Mickey, and Jeni Whitman; Chelsea and Willie Mac Dade IV; and William, Charles, and Elizabeth Ingram; and great-grandchildren Emma, Dade, Ava, and Lawson Whitman.

Bill graduated from Phoenixville High School in 1937, attended Pierce Business School and Ursinus College. He graduated from Pennsylvania Military College (Widener University) in February 1943 and became an officer in the US Army. He was assigned to the 71st Infantry Division in Camp Carson, CO serving actively in Europe until the end of the war. His division had the distinction of penetrating further east in Europe than any other US combat unit.

Following the war, Bill was employed at The Parsons and Baker Company in Phoenixville. He was a member of Jaycees, the YMCA Board of Directors, Phoenixville Chamber of Commerce, Rotary Club, and on the Board of Directors of Southeast National Bank.

Bill was a dedicated member of the First United Methodist Church in Phoenixville. Spending summers in Ocean Grove, NJ with his family Bill became very involved in the community serving on the Ocean Grove Board of Trustees.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Memorial Service at the First United Methodist Church, 865 South Main Street, Phoenixville, PA 19460 on Saturday, February 9, 2013 at 2 PM. Officiating will be the Rev. R. Mark Young. Burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Friends will be received from 1 ?" 1:45 PM Saturday at the church.
