William Howard McTavish, 90, husband of Doris M. (Miller) McTavish, of Limerick formerly of Upper Providence, passed away on Monday, February 22, 2010, at Parkhouse Providence Pointe, Upper Providence. Born in Madera, Clearfield County, PA, he was a son of the late William D. and Robie (Turner) McTavish.

Mr. McTavish attended Ursinus College and served in the United States Air Force. He was a member of the 407 Bomb Squadron stationed in Pattington, England. For many years he put out a newsletter every quarter for as many as 350 members. Mr. McTavish retired in the mid 1980's from the Synthane-Taylor Corporation in Oaks, PA after over 45 years of service. He was a member of the Royersford United Methodist Church.

Mr. McTavish was a community volunteer in many aspects. He was founder of Project Outreach, served as Commissioner of the Spring-Ford Babe Ruth League for 17 years, was a member of the Spring-Ford School District Education Foundation, and was the Chairman of the Upper Providence Township Parks and Recreation Commission for a number of years. Along with two friends from Reading, he co-founded the Charles Bechtel Chapter of the Ruffed Grouse Society.

In addition to his loving wife of 66 years, Mr. McTavish is survived by one daughter, Gail, wife of Leonard Perrone of St. Marys, Georgia, two sons, Robert J., husband of Gretchen (Miller) McTavish of Pottstown and William J., husband of Deborah (Reed) McTavish, of Parkerford, five grandchildren, Vincent Perrone, Marc McTavish, Benjamin Perrone, Kate McTavish, John McTavish, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Beatrice Lee, Hazel Michaels, and Laura Klock and two brothers, Albert L. and J. Mirrel McTavish.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service at the Cattermole-Klotzbach Funeral Home, 600 Washington Street, Royersford, on Friday, February 26, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. Officiating will be the Rev Lee F. Adams. Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Parkerford. Friends will be received from 7:00 - 8:30PM Thursday evening or from 9:30 - 10:30AM Friday morning at the funeral home.
