Obituary

William E. Metzler, 68, husband of Peggy A. (Lowe) Metzler, of Royersford, passed away on Friday, May 21, 2010, in the Phoenixville Hospital. Born in Erie, he was a son of the late Joseph M. and Anne Marie (Kertis) Metzler.

Mr. Metzler served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He served as a Medic stationed in Erie before he was stationed at the Valley Forge Military Hospital in Phoenixville. Mr. Metzler was also a member of the Fighting Tigers.

He was employed as a machine operator for 34 years at the former Philly Gear in King of Prussia.

In addition to his loving wife of 46 years, Mr. Metzler is survived by two daughters, Victoria Marie Dial of Monroeville, and Cynthia Lynn Metzler, of Royersford, one son, William Joseph Metzler, of Royersford, "adopted daughter," Karen Angel Marvel, of Royersford, one brother, James William Metzler, of Erie, four grandchildren, Joey, Angelina, Garrett, and Alyssa, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Tom Metzler, and a nephew, Paul Metzler.

Funeral Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the William E. Metzler Memorial Fund, c/o National Penn Bank, 702 S.
