Obituary

William Ravis, 94, husband of Ethel P. (Cengeri) Ravis, of Phoenixville, passed away on Saturday, May 23, 2009, in the Phoenixville Hospital. Born in Phoenixville, he was a son of the late Alexander and Julia (Lukcas) Ravis.

Mr. Ravis was a 1932 graduate of Phoenixville High School. He was employed as a molder and one of the first employees at the West Company. Mr. Ravis served in the United States Army 109th Field Artillery 28th Division during World War II, serving at Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes, and Central Europe, and received the Good Conduct Medal, the American Defense Service Medal, and the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with 5 Bronze Stars.

He was a member of the Calvary Bible Church, Phoenixville, and was active in his faith and service of the Lord. He had a great love for the Lord Jesus Christ, his wife, family, and grandchildren, and had a lifelong interest in golf.

In addition to his loving wife of 63 years, Mr. Ravis is survived by two sons, Dr. William R., husband of Vicki Ravis, of Auburn, Alabama, and Rev. Richard B, husband of Patricia Ravis, of Edison, NJ, two granddaughters, Nicole Tole, and Dr. Julie Sams, four great-grandchildren, Olivia, W. Harrison, Sarah, and Jacob, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Alexander Jr., Joseph, John, and Edward Ravis.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service at the Calvary Bible Church, 110 Valley Park Road, Phoenixville, on Wednesday, May 27, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. Officiating will be Dr. K. Keith Megilligan. Interment will follow in Morris Cemetery. Friends will be received from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the Church. Memorial gifts may be made in his name to the Calvary Bible Church.
